After a decade working in restaurants followed by another decade as a personal trainer I finally found my way back to ceramics. I hadn`t touched clay in almost 20 years but after one class I was ready to jump right back in, and that I did. Less than one year later I was volunteering as a studio assistant learning how to operate the kilns and so much more. Shortly after that I found myself teaching and helping others learn to love the occasional frustration and immense joy that is ceramics.
I work out of the community ceramics studio at the Simms Street Apex Rec Center in Arvada, where I also teach wheel throwing, as well as my home in Broomfield. I will be representing my work at the Burd`s Nest Gallery in Olde Town Arvada during the tour.
I make wheel thrown functional ceramics with a focus on texture and carving. Jars and mugs with texture that just begs for you to hold them are my absolute favorite to make as well as other pieces that can be used and enjoyed on a daily basis.
