Heather is a self-taught painter obsessed with the human form—its movement, its expression: the curve of hip, the cascade of hair, the stories written on a face. She spent decades chasing the mermaid‑like grace that mesmerized her as a child. A psychologist and mother of two, life kept her work folded into sketchbooks and private circles; now she’s ready to open that space and share it. Her work explores feminism and the beauty of the human body, centering women’s experience.
Studio: a walkout-basement room at my Arvada home on Dudley Circle. It’s a working, lived-in space—brushes and paints, stacked canvases and sketchbooks, clay and sculpting tools, tattoo supplies and mock-ups, painted furniture, and an array of mixed-media experiments. Expect active surfaces, unfinished pieces, and a hands-on atmosphere reflecting a practice across mediums and styles.
My work draws from human, organic, and feminine forms, now moving toward abstraction while still guided by life`s curves and gestures. I explore playful sensuality and unusual angles, and the tension between beauty and objectification. Small natural motifs—a cherry pit, the rings of a sawn tree—recur as abstracted echoes that often resolve into subtle, suggestive forms.
