At the heart of my practice is mindfulness, the act of slowing down and responding honestly to what I see and feel. As both a painter and art teacher, I am deeply engaged in the process of observation, exploration, and creative growth. Through landscape, wildlife, and symbolic imagery, I explore the balance between movement and stillness, chaos and calm. My work invites viewers to pause, reflect, and reconnect with the natural world and themselves.
My studio is located on the lower level of my home, in a well-lit large, open space with lots of windows, that allows me to work on both small studies and large-scale paintings. The space supports both experimentation and focus, giving me the freedom to move between detailed work and more expressive, physical painting, working on several pieces at one time.
I am a painter inspired by the natural world, where time spent hiking, photographing, and painting en plein air grounds my work in observation and presence. In the studio, these studies evolve into expressive oil paintings built through layered brushwork and vivid color. I focus on movement, light, and atmosphere, creating work that feels both structured and alive. My paintings explore themes of change, connection, and the quiet moments that invite us to slow down and notice.
